Cycling routes

The HARENDA SPORTS AND RECREATION CENTER is one of the most convenient places for cycling in the vicinity of Zakopane. Thanks to the chairlift, which is open throughout the summer season, you can get to the ridge of the Gubałowski Range, which offers many routes of various types and degrees of difficulty. Every cyclist will find something for themselves here.
There is a large free car park at the valley station of the chairlift. Both at the lower and upper stations, you can rent a bike and use a professional service. This is important because before setting off on the road, it is necessary to check the efficiency of the vehicle. On mountain roads, good drive and brakes are a requirement for safety and fun.
Bicycles are free to transport and the chairlift is adapted to transport them.

The undoubted advantage of HARENDA is that when we go upstairs, unlike on Gubałówka or Szymaszkowa, we do not fall into the swirling crowd. In peace and quiet, with the magnificent Tatra panorama in front of our eyes, we can prepare for the road. In a small bar with a terrace from which there is a beautiful view, you can refresh yourself before the trip. A multitude of routes begins at the upper station of the HARENDA railway. On the bike, we can spend from a few to several hours on them, experiencing exciting descents, strenuous climbs, relaxing traverses. We will always be accompanied by a beautiful Tatra panorama and lush nature. However, it should be remembered that a bicycle in the mountains requires more than in the lowlands. This applies to fitness and riding technique. It's great fun, but it requires prudence and discernment of your own abilities.
Generally, the local bicycle routes are of two types. They can lead on asphalt roads or on uneven gravel, stony paths, forest paths where trunks and roots often protrude. If you choose such routes, you should equip your bike with appropriate tires. It is always worth having something from the rain with you because the Tatra aura is capricious. However, it is not worth carrying food with you. You can actually get them anywhere.

In the bike routes tab, you will certainly find a proposal that suits you. Let's go!

Route No. 2

The trail from the upper station of the Harenda railway leads along a forest slope to Suche, and then through Poronin through meadows to Cyrhle. From Cyrhla through Bystre, Pardalowka, Oberconiówka, Ustup, up to the lower Harenda station. This is a more demanding route, 15 km long. It leads around the area and the journey takes about 3-4 hours.
At the upper station, we turn right down the clay and stony, uneven road leading through the forest. In the place where the road disappears, we turn left and go down along a meadow or a narrow path on its edge. We reach a stream, which we cross in a buoy or on a small footbridge. Then we enter the asphalt road and follow it to Poronin. Here we cross Zakopianka, and then we turn right and follow the road parallel to the railway tracks. At the Misiagi pass, we turn left and go up through the fields. First, a steep uphill road between the houses, and then a flat section that leads us to a dirt road. Then, near Zoniówka, we get to the asphalt road leading steeply to Cyrhle. After reaching the crossroads, we turn right and descend towards Jaszczurówka. From here, we have an uphill ride to Bystre, and then along a wide road down through Pardołówka and Oberconiówka to Ustup. The last stage is a dozen-minute ride along the Zakopianka road and we are at the lower railway station in Harenda.

Route No. 3

The road from the upper station of the Harenda railway leads through Furmanowa, Gubałówke, Butorowy, Słodyczki, along dirt roads to the Mulice hamlet and to Miętustwa. Then through Czerwienne to Ząb, to Furmanowa and back to the upper Harenda station. This route is over 40 km long and the journey takes about 5-6 hours.
From the upper station of the Harenda railway, we take the ascending road to the west towards Furmanowa. Behind the church, a steep climb to Gubałówka begins at the relay and we go along a relatively straight asphalt road to Butorowy. At the crossroads, we turn right and go down about 2 km to the hamlet of Słodyczki, and then follow the road to Dzianisz and Nowy Bystry, where we follow the gravel road leading through the forest.

We go down an uneven and stony trail to vast meadows. From here the road is constantly descending and for about 10 km we go down on grass, clay or gravel. When the road through the meadow ends, we turn sharply left and arrive at the hamlet of Mulice. Here we drive several hundred meters on the asphalt, and in the place where the road turns right, we go straight up the clay path through the forest. Then through the fields descending to Miętustwo, meadows turning into a paved gravel road, which we reach the road. From here, we have a dozen or so kilometers of uphill driving through Czerwienne. From here, we will enter the road from Bustryk to Ząb and head towards Furmanowa, to the upper station of the Harenda railway.

Route No. 4

A real Gubałowo classic. From the upper station of the Harenda railway through Furmanów, Gubałówka, Słodyczki, through Ostrysz and Cyrykica to Chochołów. Then through Dzianisz to Butorowy and back to Harende. A difficult and strenuous tour for both the bike and the cyclist. Strength and off-road skills are required. Strong experiences guaranteed. About 30 km and 5 hrs. fighting.
Just like on route no. 3, we get from the upper Harenda station to the clearings behind the hamlet of Słodyczki. We follow it for only about 1 km and turn left along the road, which at the beginning is a kind of muddy and overgrown ravine. We go a little down the path running along its edge first, and from the place where it begins to rise and its bottom becomes more rocky in its middle. The driveway leads us to the meadows above the upper Dzianisz. The dirt road turns right here and for a while we move on relatively flat terrain. Before we reach the large fields near Ostrysz. We go down first, and because the road is quite even and does not fall sharply, we can add and enjoy the momentum.

A moment of intoxicating driving and you have to start climbing Ostrysz. It is not a long climb, but very steep and technically demanding. Clay track, narrow, uneven. You have to pay close attention to the track and keep your balance. Very steep at the end. Wheezing, a bit of agony here. But what a satisfaction when it succeeds. It's still exciting too. A very sharp descent. Roots, grass, a bumpy path make it hard to control the ride, to be concentrated. The terrain changes again. Now a flat, boggy meadow with lush grasses. We are working hard to overcome it. We cross the gravel road from Dzianisz to Ciche and we go uphill again. We traverse the next ravine and along its left edge, through the successive more and more piling up "brzyzki" we reach the place where it disappears. Here we turn sharply to the left and climb a poorly visible path trodden in the grass to Cyrillic. A strenuous part because the soft ground makes it difficult to ride.

Tired, we reach a good clay road and with it we easily turn right to the nearby top of the Cyrillic alphabet. Below Chochołów and somewhere in the distance Orawa. We are constantly moving around the humming, fragrant, green space. Shut up, huh
